Classes Offered 2026-2027
Junior/Youth Teams
For Boys & Girls ages 13-17
These teams meet for two hours, one night a week, and do team routines and syllabus (technique) during that time period. They do fun, local performances and competitions, and also travel to Utah for a competition in the spring. During the fall and winter months we have team socials, and for our Utah competition we travel together on our team bus, have pizza, go swimming, etc. We like to have fun as a team, but we also work hard and expect excellence and dedication. Our teams are all national title holders at Gem State National Show Dance Championships, and they do really well with the limited time we have with them in class each week. Dancers will be selected for placement on the Jr/Yth Teams during our Team Placement Day in August. Dancers need to be registered BEFORE team placement day. If you have any questions please contact Annette at 208-589-0382.
***Since this is a formation team with set choreography and set numbers of boys and girls, dancers need to be committed for the full dance from the first of September through the end of April and have regular team attendance.
***Girls that are new to our studio should register with a boy that’s also new to our studio, of similar age and ability level (Ages 13-17 for Jr/Yth Teams). Please specify who you’re registering with on your registration form in the comment section. This is just to help our boy/girl ratio, you won’t be their assigned partner for the year. Everyone switches partners and has the opportunity to dance with everyone on their team. If you don’t have a new boy to register with you’re welcome to still register and be placed on a waiting list until a spot opens up for you. Quite often our numbers work out so it’s always worth trying, but if we don’t end up with a spot for you we’ll refund your registration fee. You’re welcome to contact me with any questions.

Junior/Youth Novelty Team
For Boys & Girls ages 13-17
Novelty Team is a lot of fun and opens up more options for our 13-17 year old dancers since no audition is required. Team is one hour/week and performs/competes a fun team routine at all of the same events as the other Jr/Yth Teams, including the Utah Competition! Novelty Team learns fun choreography and works on technique but doesn’t compete syllabus since we don’t worry about having even numbers of boys and girls on this team. You can have Novelty Team be your only team, or you can add it in addition to your other classes/teams. (Depending on your preference, but also depending how team placement works out for our other Jr/Yth teams).
***Since this is a formation team with set choreography and set numbers of dancers, you need to be committed for the full dance season from the first of September through the end of April and have regular team attendance.

Strength and Movement Class
For Boys & Girls ages 13-17
The purpose of the Strength and Movement class is to strengthen dancers, improve quality of movement, and work on technique. To achieve this, we do ballet, yoga, strength training, jazz, contemporary, stretching, etc. Each week is different and you’ll work on lots of things including choreography for Spring Concert. No audition is necessary, and we don’t require even numbers of girls and boys for this class.
***Since this class performs and has set choreography, dancers need to be committed for the full dance season from the first of September through the end of April and have regular team attendance.
*** No audition is required for the Strength and Movement Class, but dancers enrolling in this class need to dance on one of our Jr/Yth Team to be eligible to enroll. It’s designed as an “add-on” class and is priced lower because you’re already paying for your other team(s).

Lift Team
For Boys & Girls ages 14-17, by audition only
Lift Team does beautiful lifts and choreography that require strength from the boys as well as the girls. Because of the lifts done, the safety involved, and the attention to detail that’s needed, we hold auditions for this team and carefully select dancers that work well together. Lift Team meets one night a week for one hour. Our Lift Team works hard and they do a beautiful job at their performances and competitions. We’re really proud of their hard work (and Emily’s amazing coaching!)

Show Team for dancers with special needs and peer tutors
Our Show Team is for teens and young adults with special needs and peer tutor volunteers. We have a lot of fun and make great friendships! Dancers learn various styles of ballroom dance and learn choreographed team routines that they perform and compete locally at various events. We want all of our dancers to be successful so we work closely with parents to make sure our program is accommodating for the needs of our dancers. Since this is a formation team with set choreography and set numbers of boys and girls, dancers need to be committed for the full dance season from the first of September through the end of April.
Performances/Competitions:
- December 2026 – Christmas Showcase
- January 2027 – Eastern Idaho Ballroom Concert “Civic Show” in Idaho Falls
- Spring 2027 – Gem State Competition Rexburg
- April or May 2027 – Spring Concert
Peer tutors don’t pay a monthly fee to dance on Show Team since you already pay monthly fees for your other team(s)
Peer tutors’ costume fee is waived since you’re paying costume fees with your other team(s)

Understudy for PreTeen/Junior/Youth Teams
We like to have a boy and a girl understudy for each of our teams. The understudies dance on their regular team as a full member then volunteer to be an understudy for an additional team. The understudies attend class every week, learn the syllabus, and learn ALL of the dancers places in the choreography so they can fill in any of the spots. They’re our “back up plan” and if we have a dancer that’s injured or sick for a performance or competition the understudy fills in for them. If no one is injured or sick then the understudy doesn’t perform with that team but they’ll still get to perform with their regular team.
Understudies are expected to be at class every week, work hard, and have great attitudes. We appreciate their hard work, and in compensation they have reduced tuition and their costume fee is waived for the team they’re an understudy for. Dancers who would like to be considered for the understudy spots should contact Annette BEFORE team placement day so we know who’s interested, then we’ll assign dancers to teams that will be a good fit for them on a space-available basis.
Performances/competitions:
- Look at each individual team for performances/competitions for that team.
Private Lessons
Private lessons can be set up for dancers on our Lift Team that are desiring to compete Solo Cabaret. These lessons with our ballroom coach (Emily Wood) are scheduled at a time that works best for everyone. Dancers arrange to have regular lessons with her and she sets choreography specifically for them, highlighting their strengths. Emily helps them with their technique, cleans their routines, and works closely with them at the competitions and throughout the year. You can contact the studio for more information.
